Taking Delivery of your New Vehicle!

 

 

One of the most exciting parts of buying a car is taking delivery. After the intense research, countless calls and searching for the best deal, you finally get to sign the contract and get handed over the keys for your brand-new car!

The excitement of it gets build up even from the night before and when the day finally arrives, sometimes, you tend to forget even the littlest of things through the rollercoaster of emotions bubbling inside you and the hustle and bustle of making sure everything is ready and you are on time to take delivery.

It is, therefore, a good thing to just remember to have a checklist handy when taking delivery of your new vehicle. These are just a few helpful hints and tips of checks which is advisable for you, the new car owner, to do. 

 

The first most important thing to remember is to take your documents with you, such as your ID, drivers license and other documents which the consultants will advise you to have on hand. These documents are your FICA documents and will be required when signing your contract. Can you imagine having to travel a long distance and delaying your delivery due to one specific document which you forgot to take along? You should have this on your checklist. 

 

 

When it comes to signing your contract, make sure all your information and everything you agreed upon the deal is correct as that is exactly what you will be signing for. For example, if all the plans or extras you wanted on the vehicle are there and instalment amount is correct. Take your time to go over even the finest print on your contract to confirm you not only understand but you accept what you are signing for. 

 

Once all the paperwork is finally completed, it would be the epitome moment you have been waiting, feasting your eyes on your new car. Enjoy the moment of the full view of your car and the excitement of making something your own!

Take a walk around your vehicle to inspect the condition of your vehicle. 

 

Exterior checks

  Check the paint and bodywork of your car, make sure there are no dents or scratches or cracks on your windows

.Open your bonnet to view your engine and know where to find the different engine parts that are important for you to know, such as where to check your oil, water, coolant, and your battery.

 

Know where to find your spare wheel, triangle, wheel jack, spanner and all other essential tools which come with the car. You may even get a First Aid Kit which come in handy for those emergencies. Do you have one? Find out!  

Interior checks

All upholstery is unscathed and not damaged in any way, there are no tears or holes in the seats or carpets.

Electrical Equipment- Test to make sure all your lights are working efficiently, and the radio is fully functional. Turn your air conditioning on full blast to make sure it works well and there are no foul smells or odors.

Start your vehicle! Not to drive off yet but to make sure the engine is running properly and there are no unusual sounds. 

 

These are guidelines you can follow when taking delivery of your vehicle anywhere and whether it is a new or second-hand car. It is advisable to do this immediately and not a few weeks after purchasing the car as it may be easier to resolve any issues when the car is still at the dealership.
