It can take a person months to purchase a vehicle and rightly so as it is the second most expensive purchases you will make. The car buying and owning process can be complex, from choosing the type, make and model of the car you want, deciding what would be most suited to your needs, to being able to acquire vehicle finance and get the best deal possible. Most importantly, finding the professional advice and service you need as this ultimately paves your car buying experience. 

Vikash Govindjee, Amit Bholla and Tom Gardner were just three individuals looking to buy a car and found themselves thinking of a way to reduce this complexity. Drawing on their knowledge and expertise, they realized, by using technology, they could create a perception of convenience and time efficiency in the car buying process. It was due to this very discovery, they co-founded and established Carter in 2016. They created a digital platform in which customers can choose a car from a wide selection, get advice, apply for vehicle finance and arrange delivery for their new vehicle.  

Through continuously changing and adapting in technology, Carter evolved and we were able to open Carter Renault Melrose in 2018 and rose to be the top Renault dealership in the country by new sales volumes.

We have a significant investment and belief in combining technology and people. Our unique sales team are able to operate both as sales agents and FNIs, an industry first in South Africa. We have our very own marketing capability making sure we successfully engage with customers. As a result, customers are better served and have one integrated experience. 

Carters team of developers have created a customer friendly website with the means to book in your vehicle for a service, to deliver valuable information and provides customers with a steppingstone into buying and owning a car. 

We believe in investing and inspiring our people so that they may reach their full potential and achieve their dreams. Carter not only encourages and motivates their employees to do more for their customers but for themselves. By investing in programs which build employee skills, award employees for their hard work and steadfast dedication and providing employees with the tools and opportunities to grow both within the company as well as an individual.

On the evening of the 10th of June 2021, Carter Renault Melrose, was awarded Renault South Africa’s Dealer of the Year. The award is based on customer service and brand compliance across all areas of the dealership. Winning Renault Dealer of the Year is a significant achievement, and we are grateful to have reached such a big milestone.
